The catalogue of the exhibition “Hors Décor” by Vincent Olinet (born in 1981, France), presented in the fall of 2023 at the Centre d'art contemporain de la Matmut – Daniel Havis, The « Hors Décor » exhibition catalogue, released in autumn 2023 in the Matmut Contemporary Art Center-Daniel Havis, brings together an essay that deciphers the artist's singular aesthetic based on a vast selection of works, as well as an interview that emphasizes his plural practice within the studio.
Experimenting with forms and materials, Vincent Olinet continually mixes artistic influences (pop, kitsch, rococo, decorative arts, etc.) in the service of a prolific production that reinvents popular and elitist figures, real and imaginary. The typographic games present in the book echo the artist's playfulness. The choice of colors, both for the cover and for the title pages, evokes an artificial scent of candy, a recurring figure in the artist's production.
